Worth The Risk

I was in a work meeting.

And it didn’t go well.

I stood up for myself and spoke about self care.

Self satisfaction.

Personal motivation.

In teacher land, that can feel risky to say out loud.

The work is supposed to be all about the students.

And of course, it is.

But in the studio classroom, I think there’s more to the story.

If I’m asking students to create with courage, curiosity, and pride.

I have to model that too.

Sometimes it’s the thing that keeps the whole room alive.
