When I Think Of You

$250.00
Sold Out

When I think of you, I think of summer nights on the screened-in porch.

Catching fireflies. Riding bikes.

Running barefoot on the grass.

When I think of you, I think of my Girl Scout leader.

Making crafts.

Building campfires for smores.

Earning awards and badges and pins.

When I think of you, I remember curlers and long braids.

Flowered dresses.

And home-cooked meals.

When I think of you, I think of the original plant lady.

Lover of Carol King.

Belly laughs.

And easy Sunday afternoons.

But mostly when I think of you, I remember you’re the first person I want to call.

For deep conversations.

For a much-needed reality check.

For praising the small wins.

And for the support I never want to live without.

Original Painting, 11” x 14”

This work comes framed with a white mat border that is 16”x 20” in size.

Am I still invited if it looks like I have acne?
Remnants of the shingles scar on the left side of my check.
I hear it might fade in time.

Am I still invited even though I might wear a head scarf?
To hide the hair fall that continues to shed.

Am I still invited if it looks like I have acne? Remnants of the shingles scar on the left side of my check. I hear it might fade in time. Am I still invited even though I might wear a head scarf? To hide the hair fall that continues to shed. I hear it's from malnutrition but it will grow back. Am I invited even though I'm bringing my own food? From the elimination diet that started as gross but turned out to be delicious. I hear it will start to work soon. Am I invited even though I have to leave early? To prioritize sleep and take my supplements on time. Fingers crossed that tonight is a better one. Am I still invited if I quietly decline with a little white lie? So I don't have to explain any of the real reasons. Of why maybe I shouldn't have been invited at all.
