In the summer I get slow mornings with my dog Matcha.

The air is still a little fresh, there’s sometimes dew on the grass and flowers, and he thinks we’re taking one long sniff walk.

But I’m secretly on a flower hunt, watching what has opened since yesterday and photographing petals, colors, and angles to bring back to the studio.

Neither of us wants to turn toward home.

Eventually one of our stomachs rumbles, and breakfast wins.
