My Own Little Art Boot Camp
My summer shows have come to a close.
So I’m disappearing into the studio for a bit.
I look forward to this time all year.
I know, I know.
It must be nice not to report to work until school starts again.
Correct. It’s extremely nice.
My schedule includes morning yoga, leisurely walks with my puppy, and painting until dusk.
It’s an absolute dream.
But if I’m being honest, I tend to push it pretty hard this time of year, too.
I have big goals I want to meet before the end of the summer.
There are new skills I want to learn in the studio.
Painting techniques I’ve been eager to try, but haven’t had the space or attention to give them yet.
There are commissions to complete, artist meetups to attend, and ideas I want to chase before summer slips away.
Because by mid August, I start memorizing class lists and reorganizing my art curriculum.
So I better get on it.
It feels like my own little version of art boot camp.
